PUCKETT CEMETERY, SMYRNA CHURCH RD., MAURY COUNTY TENNESSEE

One of the descendents of the Pucketts' of this cemetery - Ruby Thomas - poses in front of the cemetery wall after the long walk to find this lost historical treasure. Husband Jim snapped the photo that pleasant Monday 7 Nov 2011.  Her comment: "Edward R. Puckett and Rebecca Westmoreland Puckett are my 4th great, grandparents. Felt like special ground to me."

The lone inscribed monument of this cemetery before it was cleaned for the photo session.

The cleaning in full progress applied lovingly by descendent Ruby Thomas.

Inscribed as:
PUCKETT
EDWARD PUCKETT       FAMILY OF      REBECCA WESTMORELAND
1771  -  1829        BORN IN BRUNSWICK COUNTY VIRGINIA        1781  -  1849
MEMORIAL BY THE PUCKETT FAMILY, WAYNE COUNTY, ILL., 1958

One of the fieldstones that grace this cemetery which causes us curiosity as to who may be interred under its long standing burial grounds

The monument and two other un-carved stones that might at one time marked the head of the Puckett couple's graves. They were probably dug up and laid out flat in 1958 when this cemetery was restored.

Ruby pauses for a rest & pose over the monument after applying the elbow power to clean the Puckett monument.

Another pose over the grave of her ancestor. Thoughts of their hardship and what these old pioneers must have endured were likely flowing freely that day.

This photo focuses on the unmarked stones behind the monument.

Another view of the monument. The green spottiness is lichens which is living matter which attach to the stone over time.

Showing the rock wall which is crown shaped.

More on the Rock Wall. Opps! Jim was only partially photographed as he peered at this family site. Jim is a retired minister of the Gospel of Christ.
