Josephus Jerome Kerr. He was so frail the Confederate Army
rejected him because he was young and they also thought him sick, but he was a
strong & resilient man.

J. J. (Joseph Jerome), 26 Oct. 1844 - (Dec 2, 1929) Death Date not inscribed (Family records
of Wayne Austin say the date is Dec 2, 1929, agrees with CMCT book), �Father�. Elizabeth Violet Ausban was the daughter of James
& Elizabeth Jemima Crockett Ausban. Josephus Jerome Kerr was the son
of John B. & Priscilla A. Warden Kerr Wells. The Kerrs are the parents of
Otie Austin, James E. Kerr, May J. Kerr & Alice Stacy all interred here in
the Wilkes cemetery. They all lived in a house on the Covey Hollow Road
about 1/2 way up hte hill on the south side of the road in the curve. The house
no longer stands, Fish ponds have been there in recent years about where the
clap board siding house stood.
