 PRIEST, James Percy, Born in Carter's Creek, Maury Co., Tenn April 1, 1900.  Died Oct. 12, 1956, Nashville, Davidson County Tennessee, USA, Democrat U.S. Representative from Tennessee, 1941-56 (5th District 1941-43, 6th District 1943-53, 5th District 1953-56.  A dam in Davidson Co. was named for this honorable statesman.  Died in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee and is buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.  To see his picture go to:

In earlier years of his phenomenal career James was an educator. He served Maury County school system for many years before serving in public offices. He taught in Culleoka and was Coach of Football team in the early school built in 1924 there.
