Ruth Holtsford, 80, of Mt. Pleasant died Saturday, July 13, 1991, in St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville following an extended illness. Funeral services were today in the Chapel of Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with Raymond Harville and Gary Smalley officiating. Burial was in Arlington Cemetery. A native of Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Willie Curry Benderman. She was the wife of Laurel Amos Holtsford of Mt. Pleasant. She was a homemaker and a member of the Locust Street Church of Christ. Survivors in addition to her husbnad include two daughters, Mrs. Clem (Norma) Goodman of Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Dennis (Mary) Rochelle of Hampshire; two sons, Paul Holtsford of Glendale, Calif., and Jim Holtsford of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Joe Holtsford. Pallbearers were M.B. Henson, Charles Mabry, Howard Edwards, Raymond Pitts, James William Bailey, Jim Bailey, Thomas Nealy Edwards and Raymond Pitts Jr.

Holtsford, Laurel A., 4 Apr 1904 - 28 Nov 2000. (husband of Ruth Benderman; son of Whit C. and Minnie Taylor Holtsford.)

Mr. Laurel A. Holtsford, 96, a resident of Walnut Street in Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, November 28, 2000, at NHC Columbia. Services for Mr. Holtsford will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with Franklin Williams of the Parkway Church of Christ in Franklin officiating. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery. Memorials may be made to NHC Columbia. The Lawrence County native was the son of the late Whit C. and Minnie Taylor Holtsford. He was the husband of the late Ruth Benderman Holtsford who died July 13, 1991. He was a retired trainman for L & N Railroad where he started in 1929. He was a trainman for passenger trains, Pan American and Hummingbird. He was a member of the Locust Street Church of Christ and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainman. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clem (Norma) Goodman of Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Dennis (Mary) Rochelle of Hampshire; two sons, Jim Holtsford and Paul (Louise) Holtsford, both of Nashville; 10 grandchildren, Mrs. Gary (Shelia) Smalley of Jackson, Mrs. Jeff (Lisa) Harris of Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Robbie (Robinn) Davis and Ron (Brandy) Rochelle of Hampshire; Paul Holtsford, Jr., Tina Holtsford, and Gary Holtsford, all of Nashivlle, Mike (Teresa) Holtsford of Columbia, Jeanie Holtsford of New York, N.Y., and Laurel Holtsford of North Carolina; 11 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Joe A. Holtsford, who died Sept. 19, 1981. Pallbearers will be Ron Rochelle, Paul Holtsford, Jr., Mike Holtsford, Thomas N. Edwards, Kenny Eubank, Robbie Davis, Morrow B. Henson, and Gary Holtsford. Honorary pallbearers will be all L & N Railroad retirees, all members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Mike Greene, Colonel Jerry Scott, Hyman Franks, Dr. Charles Ball, W. C. Amacher, Donald Sanford and nurses of NHC Columbia, and James Weeks.
