Ruth Benderman; US Air Force, Korea)
Joe Amos Holtsford, 48, of 503 Walnut St., Mt.
Pleasant, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning at his home. The body is at
Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m.
Monday. Tommy Hagewood, minister of Locust Street Church of Christ will
officiate. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. A Maury County native, he was
the son of L.A. and Ruth Benderman Holtsford. He was a self-employeed painter, a
veteran of the U.S. Air Force (Korean conflict) and a member of the American
Legion. In addition to the parents, he is survived by two daughters, Miss Jean
Marie Holtsford, New York City, and Miss Laural Ann Holtsford, Jacksonville,
Fla.; a son, Gary Joe Holtsford, Manchester; two sisters, Mrs. Clem (Norma)
Goodman, Mrs. Dennie (Mary) Rochelle, both of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Paul
Holtsford, Glendale, Calif., Jim Holtsford, Mt. Pleasant; a grandchild; and
several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Brownie Holt, Frank
Nichols, Roy Cummins, Jimmy Hickerson, Mason Perry, Murry Stribling and Beechum
Barber. Friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.
