MT. PLEASANT - William Eugene "Gene" Benderman, 62, died Saturday in Maury County Hospital. 
Services are 10 a.m. Monday in Williams Funeral Home, with Murray Spencer of the Spencer Hill 
Church of Christ officiating. Burial is in Arlington Cemetery. The Maury County native was the son of 
the late William Robert and Avie Robinson Benderman. He was a heavy equipment operator for Farmer 
Construction Co. and a member of the Spencer Hill Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, 
Mrs. Esterlene Attkisson Benderman of Mt. Pleasant; a son, William Sherill Benderman of Mt. Pleasant; 
a brother, Harvey Benderman of Corinth, Miss.; two sisters, Mrs. George Rachel Nichols of Columbia, 
and Mrs. Russell Katherine Cooper of Summertown; and one grandson.

Mrs. Esterlene Benderman, 73, resident of Hay Long Avenue in Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, 
Dec. 18, at Maury Regional Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services will be conducted 
Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Williams, Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with Randy Kersey officiating. 
Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 until 9 p.m. at the 
funeral home. She was a native of Maury County, daughter of the late James Monroe and Nancy Chatman 
Attkisson. She was the wife of William Eugene Benderman, who died May 18, 1985. She was a homemaker 
and a member of the Spencer Hill Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, Sherrill Benderman, Mt. 
Pleasant, four sisters, Susie Robinson, Hassie Clawson and Dot Thomason, all of Mt. Pleasant, and Mary Poe 
of Memphis; four brothers, Eldon and Eslick Attkisson, both of Columbia, Edward and Hazel Attkisson, 
both of Mt. Pleasant; a grandson, Rodney Benderman of Mt. Pleasant; a granddaughter, Brittany Benderman 
of Columbia; and a daughter-in-law, Jean Marie Manier of Columbia. She was preceded in death by two 
sisters, Minnie Pearce and Lucy Sharp; and one brother, Jim Benderman. Pallbearers will be Jessie Waldrop, 
Richard Cothran, Billy Wayne Attkisson, C.V. Robinson, Jimmy Sharp, Morrow B. Henson and Billy Manier.
