VAUGHAN CEMETERY, SOWELL MILL RD., DUCK RIVER, MAURY COUNTY TENNESSEE

Area photos are a challenge to show when a cemetery has grown up in brush. The trunk of the large tree which fell here can be seen in the left portion of this photo.

The Vaughan memorials all lined up in the last row in the cemetery.

One can see most of the adult memorials from this angle looking south.

Mary Belle Duvivier whose ancestors are interred in this cemetery is seen here studying the cemetery layout. She is standing behind the Fannie E. Warren memorial. Fannie E was the 1st wife of Newton J. Vaughan. She and all their children died in 1861. The father Newton J. then married Mary Belle Johnston who was Mary Belle's great great grandmother. Mary Belle Johnston Vaughan is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery. Rose Hill was the old main city cemetery for Columbia, Tennessee, located a few short miles to the west of this scenic place on the banks of the Duck River.
