Robert Clifton Sanders, 75, assistant District Attorney for the 11th Judicial Circuit and former Columbia attorney, died Saturday, September 9, 2006 at his residence on Sharondale Drive.
The Bedford County native was son of the late Yancie Edgar Sanders and Eva Pearl Curtis Sanders. He attended Bedford County and Davidson County public schools and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. He earned his doctor of laws degree from the University of Tennessee Law School.
He served in the U. S. Army and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. He came to Columbia to make his home in the early 1960s and was in private law practice for a number of years before his employment with the 11th Judicial Circuit as assistant District Attorney. He also served as Juvenile Judge Pro-Tem for several years.
Mr. Sanders was a communicant of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and a former member of the Vestry. He was a member of the Maury County Bar Association, Columbia Lions Club and Columbia Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Ray Sanders and a sister, Betty Sue Tipper.
