Mrs. Claire Josephine Strang Dixon, 87, former longtime resident of Harris Street and later Morning Pointe, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at The Gardens of Poplar Estates.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Dr. Richard Zalesak officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's, Ashwood. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 1:00 � 2:00 p.m. in St.Peter's Parish Hall. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 311 West Seventh St., Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com.A native of Magnolia, New Jersey, Mrs. Dixon was the daughter of the late Harold Emerson Strang, Sr. and Josephine Mehl Strang. On June 27, 1964 she married Robert Ellison Dixon who preceded her in death September 21, 2000. She was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting and loved her pets. Mrs. Dixon was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Survivors include her daughter, Lin (Jim) Taylor of Columbia; son, John Runner of Hamilton, New Jersey; grandsons, Robert (Jennifer) Taylor of Lindale, Texas, Andrew Taylor of Columbia; great granddaughter, Ashley Taylor of Lindale, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Emerson Strang, Jr. and a sister, Jane Phillips. Pallbearers will be Randy Miller, Danny Wise, Keith Edlund, John Allen Stone,Austin Miller and Braxton Miller. The family wishes to express special thanks to Poplar Estates, Morning Pointe, Hospice Compassus and Dr. Paul Perryman.
