Obituary
Charles Edward Tomlin, 57, died Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock at his home near Spring Hill. Funeral services were held at the grave in Spring Hill Cemetery at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning by Revs. Whiddon and Wallace. Mr. Tomlin was born and reared in this county where he was engaged in farming near Thompson Station. He was a son of the late Wesley and Martha Deason Tomlin and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice Tomlin; twelve children, Mrs. George Vandergrift of Manchester; Mrs. Fate Gowan of Harpeth; Mrs. Miller Derryberry of Culleoka; Mrs. George Beard and Mrs. William Beard of Burwood; Misses Ellen and Irene, Edward, Fred and John Tomlin, of Spring Hill; Julius Tomlin of Thompson Station, and George Tomlin of Nashville, and four sisters, Mrs. Mamie Carter and Mrs. Walter Bagsby of Old Hickory; Mrs. Ellen Poteete of Bethesda, and Mrs. Ernest Harper of Franklin. obituary: Mrs. Alice B. Tomlin, 84, died Wednesday morning at Williamson County Hospital after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at Franklin Memorial Chapel this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in the cemetery at Spring Hill. A native of Williamson County, she was the daughter of the late Logan and Elizabeth Watkins Tomlin. Her home was in Spring Hill and she was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. G. W. Vandergriff of Manchester, Mrs. Louise Beard of Thompson Station, Mrs. John Robertson of Spring Hill, Mrs. Dillard Anglin of Franklin, and Mrs. Millard Derryberry of Columbia; three sons, Julius Tomlin of Franklin and John and Fred Tomlin of Spring Hill; one sister, Mrs. Maggie Louise Tomlin of Franklin; two brothers, Ben Tomlin of Spring Hill and Charlie Tomlin of Franklin; 50 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jesse Harrell, John F. Tomlin, Charles Tomlin, Jimmy Beard, James Anglin, Charles Gowan, Fred Gowan, Thomas Beard, and Donald Derryberry. Franklin Memorial Chapel is in charge.
