SOUTH POINT CEMETERY, SOUTH POINT ROAD, MAURY COUNTY TENNESSEE

Walking along the private road this is the view as one draws close to this unlikely gravesite.

The lone memorial stands in view against the skyline & open field. It it weren't a well made one it
might have disappeared years ago.

SOWELL, James A., 4 Jan 1838 - 25 Jul 1918. "Son",  (Son Wm. P. & Polly W.; Co. E., 19th Tenn. Calvary, C.S.A.)
"The angels sweetly called them, To join the heavenly throng."

Polly Sowell was the daughter of Thomas Walker & Elizabeth Cathey Walker, & wife of William P. Sowell. The mother Polly lived to see her 90th birthday. It is not known where the father, William P. Sowell, was buried. It might have been here at the side of his wife either without a memorial stone or under a lost or destroyed one.
