ABBEY, Ella C., 1887-1904, same stone as TS Craig (Ella was a married daughter)

Ella C. Abbey - Wife of Edwed B.
Abbey who was born in Iowa. They are listed on the 1930 census in Davidson
County, Tennessee with one daughter Alline, born about 1921.
Thompson Sloan Craig, son of
Nathaniel H. Craig and Hattie Scott, married Ella Cline on 22 Feb 1877 in
Maury County. They were the parents of 7 children: an unnamed infant son (b.
& d. Nov 1877), Emmett T. Craig (b. 1878), Augusta (b. & d. 1880),
John L. Craig (b. 1882), Ruby Craig (b. 1883), Samuel S. Craig (b. 1885), Ella
Craig Abbey (b. 1887) whose name is listed on the above stone.
This is Thompson's biographical entry in Goodspeed's History of Maury County:
"THOMPSON S. CRAIG, was born in the Sixth District of Maury County May 9,
1849, son of Nathaniel H. and Hattie (Scott) Craig. The father was born in
North Carolina December 25, 1807. He was reared on the farm and was married in
1828 and became the father of seven children. His death occurred in January,
1886. He was the son of John and Lucinda Craig. The mother of our subject was
born in Tennessee December 14, 1807, and died about 1872. She was the daughter
of Samuel and Sarah Scott, natives of Ireland. Our subject passed his early
life on the farm, and began business for himself at the age of twenty-three as
a farmer. February 22, 1877, he wedded Ella Cline, a native of Canada, born
January 2, 1858, and the daughter of John L. and Augusta (Simons) Cline. To
our subject and wife were born four children: Emmit P., born in 1878; John L.,
born in 1882; Ruby, born in 1883, and Samuel S., born in 1885. Mrs. Craig is a
member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and is a warm advocate of
Christianity. Mr. Craig is a Democrat, and a member of the Masonic fraternity.
He is justly recognized by all as an honest, upright young man."
Abbey, Ella Craig was born in Nov 1887 in Maury County, Tennessee, the 7th
child of Thompson Sloan Craig and Ella Cline. Before 1930, she married Edward
R. Abbey, a native of Winneshiek County, Iowa. He was the son of Aaron L. and
Sarah M. Abbey, both natives of Michigan. He was born about 1873 in the town
of Decorah, Iowa. Ella and Edward (listed as Edwed) are listed on the 1930
census as living in District 11 of Davidson County, Tennessee. Also listed
with Edward and Ella is a daughter, Alline, age 9. Ella died in 1936 and was
buried in the Shane Cemetery. Buried beside her is her father, Thompson, who
died about 2 years before she did.
