Note: "one of the oldest citizens of Columbia, if not the oldest, died at 12:30
today at home of son, W.H. Wilson, on South Garden St, age 85. At age 17 he was
appointed deputy sheriff under his relative Nimrod Porter and served many years;
1866 he was circuit court clerk and was elected several times; in 1869 was
member of General Assemby. Married six times; had fund of stories and anecdotes
