ZEB TURNER DIES SUNDAY IN NASHVILLE.
Monday September 10, 1962. (Columbia) Daily Herald
Clarence R. "Zeb" Turner a veteran of WWII died yesterday (Sunday 9/9/1962) at a
Nashville Hospital after suffering a heart attack. Services will be Tuesday at
Williams Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The Rev _ _
_ _ Knupp, pastor of Highland Baptist Church is to officiate. The body will lie
in state at the funeral home. A native of Maury County Turner was educated in
the Columbia Schools. He joined the Navy in 1939 and served as aviation ordnance
man aboard the Air Craft Carrier USS Intrepid and served in both the Atlantic &
Pacific Theaters. He received a discharge from wounds received when his ship was
torpedoed in 1944.
He was the son of Anna Austin Turner and the late James Anderson Turner. In
addition to his mother he is survived by three sisters,
Mrs J. W. Sharp - Nashville, Mrs Howell Z. Wantland - Columbia, Mrs. William G.
Puckett - Columbia. He is survived by six brothers,
Marshall Turner, Akron OH, William H. Turner, Paul J. Turner, Cecil T. Turner,
Marvin M. Turner & Charles A. Turner.
