STREET, William Montfort,
1830 - 1903. (C.S.A. "Coleman's Scouts" a military intelligence operation, whose
names were unlikely to be listed on any formal roster, he like many others began
their service as regularly enlisted members of Confederate military units, W. M.
Street was with Biffle's 9th Tn. Calvary, Ref: The Coleman Scouts Roster. In the
book Civil War in Maury Co. Tn., he is mention by the Union Newspaper "The
Sentinel" pg. 160, 18 Feb 1864, "Three men Vaughn, Moore and Street, where
picked up near Mt. Pleasant for stealing a repeater from T. A. Harris; pg.
192-193, 20 Feb 1864, Saturday, "ROBBED BY GUERRILLAS--T. J. Harris, Esq. of
Mount Pleasant, was robbed near his house on Monday evening last by a party of "respectible
guerillas". Among them were Newt. Vaughn, Will. Moore and Mum Street, all of
this city. A detachment of the 14th Mich. coming up at the time gave them close
chase, and would have succeeded in capturing them had they not been lied to and
misled by an oath-bound "loyalist" named Pulliom. Same stone with Elizabeth C.
