Mrs. Paul Hawkins, 4th Wreck Victim, Dies in Franklin - Bringing to a total of four the fatalities resulting from the collision of a Columbia car and a Nashville truck near Franklin Wednesday. Mrs. Mattie Lou Hawkins, 57, died at 5:20 a.m. today at Dan German Hospital in Franklin, where she was taken following the accident. Also killed in the wreck were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Tankersley and Mrs. Hawkins' mother, Mrs. Angie McKee Burns, all of Columbia. Another occupant of the car, James Hawkins of Alabama, 12-year-old grandson of Mrs. Burns, was only slightly injured. McKinley Thomas, 50, Nashville, driving the truck involved in the accident, also received slight injuries. Wife of Paul H. Hawkins of Columbia, Mrs. Hawkins was a daughter of the late Lewis Camp and Angie McKee Burns. For the past 30 years she had operated a boarding house in Columbia. She had been a member of the Church of Christ since early life. Services will be held at the West Seventh Street Church of Christ with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Survivors in addition to her husband are four daughters, Mrs. Agnes Crimm, Mrs. P. F. Kirby, Mrs. Glenn Descans, and Mrs. Robert Cuthburt, Jr.; two sons, Urban Camp Hawkins and Paul H. Hawkins, Jr.; a half-sister, Mrs. O. J. Broom, a half-brother, Jasper E. Burns; three step-sisters, Mrs. Beulah Jones, Mrs. Cullom Jenkins, and Mrs. Aultia Foster; one step-brother, Herman Burns; and 11 grandchildren. Williams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
