Mrs. Virgie Lorene Henson Gibson, a resident of 309 East Ninth Street, died early Tuesday
morning at the Maury County Hospital following an extended illness.
Mrs. Gibson's body is at Oakes & Nichols where funeral services will be
conducted at a time to be announced later. Burial will be in the Rose Hill
Cemetery.
A native of Lawrence County, she was the daughter of the late Turner Henson and
Sally Gray Henson. In 1927 she married Carl E. Gibson, who died in 1967
Mrs Gibson worked in restaurants most of her life. She was a member of the
Church of Christ.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. Billy (Mary Louise) Batts of Winter Garden,
Florida, Mrs. Harland (Ruby) Green of Ecorse, MI and Mrs. Elmore (Margaret)
Adams of Columbia; 2 sons, Carl Gibson Jr. of Ecorse, MI and Staff Sgt. Hubert
Gibson of Anchorage, Alaska;3 sisters, Miss Berdie Henson, Mae Ella Jones, both
of Columbia, and Mrs. Clarence (Lela) Phillips of Ypsilanti, MI; 2 half sisters
and 1 half brother; 22 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; and several nieces and
nephews.
