Hugh was the son of James and 1st wife, Mary J. Porter Akin. He was born in March of 1847. Per the Soldiers and Sailors System, he served with the 48th Regiment of the Tennessee Infantry (Voorhies'). He died in Nashville April 12, 1923.) Ref: Paula Akin
