Larry Wayne Turner, 70, retired line foreman with Columbia Power & Water System
and resident of Tom Osborne Road, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Vanderbilt
Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Highland Church of
Christ with David Morris and Barry Throneberry officiating. Burial will follow
in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 3:00
� 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Friday from 10:00 � 11:00 A.M.
at the church.

The Maury native was the son of the late Paul Johnson Turner and Pauline Goosby
Turner. He was a 1962 graduate of Columbia Central High School and continued to
be very active with the Columbia Band Boosters. He had coached American Little
League Baseball for eight years and was an antique car enthusiast. Mr. Turner
was a member of Highland Church of Christ, where he was a former deacon and had
participated on several mission trips to City of Children in Ensenada, Mexico.
The loving husband, father, and grandfather, affectionately known as "Pop", is
survived by his wife of fifty years, Anita Carol Brewer Turner of Columbia;
sons, Scott (Gina) Turner of Columbia; Brent (Katie) Turner of Lascassas;
grandchildren, Trevor (Amber) Turner, Morgan Turner, Owen Turner, Malli Shea
Turner, Jonathan Turner, Anna Turner, Jeremiah Turner; great granddaughter, Lily
Elizabeth Turner; sister, Phyllis (Jack) Powers of McKinney, Texas; brother,
Ronnie (Sandy) Turner of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Scott Turner, Brent Turner, Trevor Turner, Morgan
Turner, Owen Turner, and Buddy Stoops. Honorary pallbearers include Elders and
Deacons of Highland Church of Christ, past and present employees of Columbia
Power & Water Systems, McDonald's Breakfast Group, Toy Box Group, Paul & Kathy
Prince, Joe & Amy Colvett, Bob & Ann White, Dennis & Brenda Edwards, Craig &
