Mr. William Ernest Mesler, 85, died Thursday, May 23, 2002 at his residence on Mere Drive.

Funeral services for Mr. Mesler will be conducted Sunday May 26, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors being provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.

The Niagara Falls, New York native was the son of the late William George and Martha Lalone Mesler. He was the husband of the late Isabelle Cutler Mesler who died in 1991. Being transferred by Dupont Corporation in New York, he had made his home in Columbia since 1952. He retired as office manager for the Accounting Department at Dupont Plant in Columbia. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by a daughter, Jo Anne (Frank) Maddux of Brentwood, TN; 2 sons, Lee James (Kimberly) Mesler of Lawrenceburg, TN and William Albert (Anna Jo) Mesler of King, NC; 8 Grandchildren: Will Mesler and Janna Hucks of King, NC, Cara Chadwick of Tullahoma, TN, Ashley Hollingsworth of Bartlett, TN, Christopher Mesler, Brandon Shumate, Kyle Shumate, and Sarah Shumate all of Lawrenceburg, TN; a great grandson: Hunter Hollingsworth of Bartlett, TN. He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Mesler.
