AKIN, Rev. John, 1756 - 24 July 1821, Native of SC, (Revolutionary War Soldier.), First Methodist to preach south of Duck River in Maury Co., Tenn. Organized Pisgah Church here in 1808 and preached. He freed his slaves in his Will in 1821.
