Additional info per Audrey Massey

Major H. Gabel #23 1817 - 1899 was born in Alabama and died in Kettle Mills, Tn. 2nd great grandfather of Audrey Massey.

[Major was supposedly half Cherokee, son of Barnabas Gabel and Sarah Choate, supposedly full blooded Cherokee. There does have to be Cherokee blood there, though, as he was reported to have chiseled facial features, coal black hair, but with the piercing blue German eyes of his father. Several in his line had that same hair. He was quite an 'adventurer' , going by horseback to New England and by tramp all the way to Cuba. He also worked in the gold mines in CA, found him there on census, calling himself "Comanchero" and "Miner". He later lived in Florida where some of his children were born. Very interesting...via Audrey]

Charlotte "Lottie" Marie Corliss Gabel b 22 Nov 1831 in North Yarmouth ME d. c 1904 Maury Co Tn and was buried at Old Well. 2nd great grandmother of Audrey Massey.
Their grandaughter, and daughter of John Charles/Calhoun Gabell and Josephine Alice Richey Gabell. [great grandparents of Audrey Massey]........Connie Corliss Gabell is buried there. Connie was the sister of John Thomas Gabell. B 9 August 1882 in Kettle Mills, Tn and d. 21 October 1882 Kettle Mills, TN.

All of the above were buried adjacent to one another. Audrey's grandfather found the marker thrown over in the mud some distance from the grave and brought it home with him before he died.
