NEW RAMIE CEMETERY, STIVERSVILLE, MAURY COUNTY TENNESSEE

Just back and to the left of the large tree is a tall stone looking like a fence post from here. It is our subject stone.

Tall stone of Mary Brown.

BROWN, Mary, 17 Jan 1779 - 5 Jul 1853. 'Erected by her son John Lamar.'A stone can be found erected in the Elkridge Cemetery about 12 miles southeast of here which says: Malinda Butler Ingram, died Jan 16, 1850 aged 71 years 1 day. Twin sister Mary Butler Lamar Brown, buried in New Ramie Cemetery Maury County Tennessee. This stone also mentions Reuben Ingram, died May 26, 1850 aged 85 years. From this we pick up Mary's maiden name Butler and know she had a twin. I have that photo in the Elkridge Cemetery if anyone wishes to have a copy. Her twin sister Malinda Bulter Ingram Bray's memorial in Elkridge Cemetery.
