daughter of Walter Scott Parks and Minnie Farris Parks; grad. Hampshire High
School; taught Rally Hill School and later on staff of Kings Daughters School.)

JAMES COVEY KANNON
James Covey Kannon, 68 retired since 1976 from the Tennessee Department of
Mental Health where he served as fiscal director for a number of years and a
resident of West Sixth Street, died Friday morning at tne Maury County Hospital
following a short illness. He served at one time as President of the National
Association of Reimbursement Officers.
Services are today at 2:30 p.m. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home. The Rev.
Robert Lewis and the Rev. Michael Williams, ministers of the First United
Methodist Church, will officiate. Kannon was the son of the late Clyde Hughes
and Virginia Cochran Kannon. He received his early education in Maury County
schools and attended Cumberland University. He was a long-time member of the
First United Methodist Church and an active member of the Men's Bible Class.
He is survived by his wife, the former Dora Parks, whom he married in 1935; two
sons, the Rev. James C. Kannon Jr. of McMinnville and Clyde David Kannon of New
Mexico, and six grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Mark Kannon, Michael Kannon, David Grimes, Jerry
Grimes, Farris Grimes, Carl Grimes, Harris Cheatham, Myron Peck, Lloyd
Fitzgerald, Roy Hendrix, Berry Hammonds and Dick Corn. Honorary pallbearers will
include members of the Men's Bible Class at First United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Coronary Care Unit at Maury County Hospital.
