AKIN, James F. �Jim�: James F. �Jim� Akin was born 2 Dec 1887 in Tennessee . The first record I find for him in Maury County is on the 1910 census. He and his wife, the former Mary Alice �Mamie� Sims, were blessed with the birth of 5 children: Virginia Mae Akin, Lawrence H. Akin, Vera Eugenia Akin Runions, Thelma Akin York, and Mary Akin Whitlock. In 1910, the family lived in the Mount Joy community of Mt. Pleasant . In the household are James Akin, Mamie Akin and Virginia Akin. The family lived on Mount Joy Road in 1920. His daughter, Virginia, had died shortly after the 1910 census. In the household with James and Mamie in 1920 are Lawrence, Vera, and Thelma. In 1930 the family is listed in Lewis County, Tennessee on West Fork Road . In the household with Jim and Mamie are Lawrence , age 19; Vera, age 16, Thelma, age 13, and Mary, age 10. Jim Akin died 19 Aug 1949 and was buried in the McClain Cemetery in Lewis County, Tennessee. Buried beside him are his wife, Mamie, and son Lawrence. Buried at the foot of him are his daughters, Virginia Mae Akin and Mary Akin Whitlock.

AKIN, Lawrence H.: Lawrence H. Akin was born 20 Apr 1911 in Maury County, Tennessee, the 2nd child of James F. �Jim� Akin and Mary Alice �Mamie� Sims. He died 25 Jun 1963 and was buried at McClain Cemetery in Lewis County next to his mother and dad.

AKIN, Mary Alice �Mamie� Sims: Mary Alice �Mamie� Sims was born 25 Jul 1883 in Maury County, Tennessee, the 5th child of Jones Hunter Sims and Theresa J. �Tressy� Worley. She married James F. �Jim� Akin and they were blessed with 5 children: Virginia Mae Akin, Lawrence H. Akin, Vera Eugenia Akin Runions, Thelma Akin York, and Mary Akin Whitlock. She died 19 Oct 1967 and was buried in the McClain Cemetery in Lewis County, Tennessee. She was buried in between her husband, Jim, and her son Lawrence. Buried at the foot of her grave are her daughters, Virginia Mae Akin and Mary Akin Whitlock. The Sims family were active members of the Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church and some of Mamie�s children continued as members there for many years.
