Updated from Obituary Records compiled and sent in by Mary Bob McClain.
The above surname Stanfield was also found spelled Stanfill in many cases. Since I could not see any consistency I spelled all of them as Stanfill. If you know this to be incorrect we are willing to change it back for your immediate kin. [WA 5 Apr 2009]

JOHNSON'S CHAPEL
Johnson's Chapel was begun as a Methodist church in a log cabin on the Natchez Trace early in the history of the region. About 1883, land was given by the D. F. Slater family for a building and a frame structure vas erected. This was lost to fire in 1904 and the congregation, having became too weak to continue ceased to exist. In 1923, a group of residents decided to form a Baptist Church in the area and secured the old property and built a new frame building.
Before the building could be erected, however, the congregation used a brush arbor on what is now the cemetery. In 1925 a simple building was built and this has been expanded from time to time throughout the years. As far as can be ascertained, this is the only functioning church on the Natchez Trace in Maury Co.
