James Mitchell
James Mitchell was born in Orange County, North Carolina, and it was from 
there he served in the Revolutionary War, having enlisted in April 1781. He 
married Mary Craig in Orange County on 29 Oct 1789, the daughter of Capt. David 
Craig. In 1803 James Mitchell sold his home in Orange County and lived for a 
short time in Logan County, Ky. He settled in Maury County in 1809, where he 
became a charter member of Salem Presbyterian Church as well as presiding elder. 
He and Mary Craig Mitchell were the parents of fourteen children.
