TINNEN, Elizabeth, (b. cir 1810 - death after 1880, but before 1900), w/o Alexander Tinnen, No marker, no dates
TINNEN, John Lemuel, 09 Dec 1825 - 09 May 1908, h/o Teressa Simpson Tinnen, No marker**
TINNEN, Teressa [Simpson], 11 Jul 1819 - 02 Sep 1852, w/o John Lemuel Tinnen md. 6 Apr 1848 9904L/9904/9903/9905
TINNEN, T. M. (Mathew), (b. abt 1826 - death unknown but tombstone style 1850 -1860. He does not show up in 1860 Census.), marker has no dates on it. 9907L/9907/9906
TINNEN, Nancy, abt 1835 d. abt 1877. 2nd wife of John L. Tinnen ( No marker, no dates, see census 1860-1870)***
There are several
field stone markers without names and dates. It is unknown to me if any of these
were slave graves, but the Tinnen's did not report any slaves in 1830. Because
of that I assume there were none here and all these graves are for Tinnen family
members:
9908/9909/9910/9911/9912/9913/9914/9915/9916
** After studying the
censuses, Ancestry.com & these two markers I conclude the children who are in John L. Tinnen's home
after Teressa Simpson Tinnen died in 1852 are those of Nancy (?) Tinnen John's his 2nd wife. He evidently remarried
to
Nancy the 2nd wife
and she died sometime after son Tom W. Tinnen was born who was then 4 years old. Tom was born about 1876
as shown in the 1880
census. Nancy the 2nd wife would have died about 1877 and probably lies in an
unmarked grave in this cemetery. The number of graves in this cemetery marked
only with fieldstones without inscriptions were enough to cause me to attempt to
add*** Nancy to the above listing using raw research. I did not find a credible
marriage record for Nancy & John L Tinnen but it was between 1852 & 1860.
There are many ways to spell this surname. I have chosen to stay with what is
spelled out on Teressa Tinnen's tombstone. I have seen this more predominantly
as Tinnon with the "o". See Robert Tinnon Cem across African Hollow.
