*The only monument still standing up. I went there a few days later and
cut the tree cambium some to prevent it from overtaking the stone. If I had cut
it completely the cattle would have trampled this stone so I injured it so it
would not grow around the stone, but not die either and allow the cattle to
trample the stone.
*** Anthony is actually
interred in the
Anthony
Samuel Graveyard on the Buford Station Road on the old John Yokley (d. 1970)

Added here 1st 5 Mar 2013 by C. Wayne Austin. Revised 21 Apr 2016 for a visit
which took place 19 Apr 2016. It is obvious from the photos that this cemetery
has been abandoned for years. Only two of the stones are broken and require
special repairs to get the cemetery standing up. The other stones could be reset
into the ground and will stand. It would do no good to stand them up and watch
the cattle break/mash them back into the ground with their rubbing action. Fencing
without further maintenance would allow giant trees to spring up and eventually
fall down on the stones in storms so that is a failed option in the long run. I
propose a narrow fenced area with barb wire without the barbs that allows the
cattle to stick their heads in and graze the cemetery from across the fence to
keep the vegetation under control without touching the stones otherwise.
