* A Confederate Training Camp where disease was common.
**I have tried carving fieldstones when I was a teen, and found there are
usually spots that will not take a simple inscribed letter because the veins &
various hardness resist your energy away from the letter you are trying to
shape, so the usual method is to skip around trying to find a part of the stone
that will allow the inscribed letter. That to me appears to be what is happening
on some of these stones, but mostly with the dates. The distance between the
head and footstone of these graves do not suggest they are children.
Unknown footstone (what appears to be instead of headstone) no markings: 7137/7143/7153/7160/backside:7161
Grave with Triangular shaped fieldstone at head of a grave lined with rocks. It
is small - like a child: 7154/7155
Multiple graves lined and covered in various shaped stones:7156/7157/7158
Several rock outlined graves- no inscription, but some have initialed footstones indicating the Russell monument was a central stone with the graves spread around.
Photographed on a Wednesday 4 May 2016. Mr. George Storey showed me where this cemetery is located. The inscriptions were updated with exceptions found or known by C. Wayne Austin. This publication culminated from various sources. Listed on page 181 of the book Lincoln County County Cemeteries by Tim & Helen Marsh, abt 1978. Added here 11 May 2016.
