MORTON, ([NOTE, 1962: Beside of the Morton graves are 2 other Large (Stack Rock) carved stone vaults. We were told that they were man & wife by the name of Morton or Martin, could be T. & J. Morton. 1962 note][update: The T & J Morton graves were found in Marion county Ill in the Old Covenanter Cemetery. Additional note by Brian F. McLaughlin a descendant of Alexander Morton: The father of the entire group, died in 1829 and it was often stated he was buried in the Morton Family Cemetery which may have been what is now the current "Pigg Cemetery."
Also, my GGGG grandfather James Morton lost his first wife there in Lincoln County Mary Foil Breckenridge/Brackenridge, who died in 1828. Also, James son William Brown Morton (he was the first of two named this name) died in 1839 in Lincoln, Tenn. My James Morton line waited a few more years after Thomas and Jane before coming to Marion, Illinois. I would make the assumption that Alexander Morton, Mary Foil Breckenridge Morton and William Brown Morton at the very least could be buried in the Pigg Cemetery or on the old Morton family lands that are nearby,
