Funeral services for Mrs. Daisy Roberts Newton, 79, Giles County resident, were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Bennett-May Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. J. C. Elkins, former pastor, and the Rev. Raymond Crawford, Baptist minister. Burial took place in New Zion Cemetery. Mrs. Newton died about 4 o'clock Monday afternoon, May 9, at Giles County Hospital after an extended illness.
Born November 28, 1881, in Marshall County, she was the daughter of the late Noah Roberts and Amanda Pettus Roberts. She had lived most of her life in Giles County and was a member of the Friendship Methodist Church.
Mrs. Newton, widow of Walter L. Newton who died a few years ago, is survived by one sister, Mrs. Belle Barber, Pulaski; and several nieces and nephews.
