This cemetery was established as a Church and Community Cemetery many years before Lewisburg existed and even before Marshall County came into existence in 1836. This cemetery was a part of Bedford County until 1836. James & Lydia McMoris are the first marked graves in 1815 & 1818 respectively.

Compiled by C. Wayne Austin from various sources, but mainly from the book Marshall County Tennessee Cemeteries book May, 1980 by Helen & Tim Marsh Pages 130-133. Added here 1st 15 Jan 2015 and revised for a photographic visit which took place 14 Sep 2015. About 10 listings are exclusively from findagrave.com. Findagrave as of now has 31 listings whereas this site has 141 or is much more complete. There is also a listing on Findagrave for a Martha McCandless Old-Johnson who is mistakenly listed in this cemetery. She is also correctly listed in the Mt Carmel Cemetery in Hardin County where her grave is located and should not be here.
