Unknown memorial stone in the Alex & Mary A. McCollum grave lots. Top

Unknown carved stone with no inscription in the Alex McCollum Lots:
9343
*This stone seems to be for William the son of Mary
& A.J. McCollum, but it is not a 1923 version stone, more in line with what was used in the
1870-1890 era, but maybe it was reused.
When I approached this
cemetery the wind was howling at about 25-40 MPH in the tops of those giant Oak
& Hackberry Trees. I had just came from the Derrick Cemetery whereby the
progenitor William Derrick had died when a tree fell on him. Now knowing that
limbs fall off trees all the time in high winds I was a little leery of the
situation. The wind continued howling thru the tops of the trees and making very
ominous and scary sounds to a lone visitor. However, I barged ahead with the
survey, but kept an alert ear for the sharp cracking sound made when a giant
limb breaks away from a tree. I had hopes that I could run upwind & away from
the sound to avoid catastrophe. Yes I had all that figured out, but in the end
did not need it. Nevertheless I would not advise anyone to be in this cemetery
in stormy weather.
Photographed on a cloudy Monday morning of 6 Mar 2017. The inscriptions were updated with exceptions found or known by C. Wayne Austin. This publication culminated from various sources. Listed on page 181-182 of the book Lincoln County County Cemeteries by Tim & Helen Marsh, about 1978. Added here 12 Mar 2017.
