Margaret Esther McCoy Morphis
Mrs. John Morphis, 72, died New Years Eve at 2:15 o'clock in the Gereral
Hospital in Nashville, following an operation of appendicitis, though she had
been in ill health for years.
The remains were brought to Bill & McGaugh Funeral Home that night at 9 o'clock,
and funeral services were conducted at 11:oo o'clock on Friday at the Funeral
Home, by the Rev.
Lloyd T. Householder, pastor. Burial was in the McAteer cemetery.
Mrs. Morphis was a person of sweet disposition and lovable character and in her
passing we sustain a genuine loss and will miss her. Her death has caused much
sadness. She was
a member of the Baptist Church for several years.
Her survivors include: Three sons, Vernoy and Charles Morphis of Nashville,
Jacob Morphis of Culleoka; two daughters, Mrs. George Connell, of Nashville, and
Mrs. Herbert Shelby,
of Madison, Tennessee, four sisters, Mrs. John Fowler and Mrs. Solomon Wade of
Cornersville; Mrs. Sandy Rainey of Lewisburg, and Mrs. Mattie Burlin, of
Nashville; two brothers,
Francis McCoy, of Red Oak,
and George McCoy of Cornersville; several grandchildren.
