unknown - Behind this thicket of Bramble briars is a memorial stone I could not
cut out. I had already exceeded my physical limit of brush cutting.
3315/3322
Hardly any of these memorial stones are standing. I set many of them back together for the photography session so from the photo you cannot necessarily see the damage, but they are badly broken from livestock and tree limb damage along with any vandalism that may have been present here in the past. Also many other stones were knocked over and sunken into the ground and I dug them up and up righted the bases and temporarily set these up too. In this case I left the base upright. It does no good when cattle are present to set stones back up. The cattle will brush against the stone and they will tumble and possible fracture. Now there was no livestock when I was there and has not been in a while. I venture to say a lot of the damage here is from falling limbs. You can imagine the damage from a 1/2 ton tree limb crashing down to the the ground striking the stones from 50 feet up in a tree. Area views were not really possible because all the stones were covered in brush and weeds. Of course I cut some of it to get to the stone display, but the overall area was still too overgrown.
Photographed on May 29, 2012. The inscriptions were updated with exceptions found or known by C. Wayne Austin. This publication culminated from various sources. First it was compiled by Faye Bradford, 23 Feb 2012. Listed on page 196-197 of the book Giles County Cemeteries by the Historical Society 1988. Added here 5 Mar 2013. Listed on findagrave.com but several (26) of the stones were missing from photographs.
