** I cannot absolutely prove the above information but my theories are usually right. I do not think this is the tombstone for Thomas Gibson 1839-1892, but instead E. A. Gibson w/o Thomas Gibson)
*** Church began in 1827. A man by the name of Mr. Hannah who lived in the gap of a hill about 1/2 mile from church site is believed to be a charter member and so they named the church after him. This was to show the location indicating a passage gap in the hills near this place. It was originally a log building and served as a school for the area ,too. The original building was not located where the church sits now but this building was built sometime around the centennial in 1927. Names of former deacons-Harve & WT Sorrells, WS Gilbert, John Marsh, JR & Mosie Nichols, JK Scott, JM Lambert, Joe Stephenson, GL Redd. There are also men by name of Wagster, Barham, Gibson, Pierce, Soloman, Cashion, Arnold and others by the name of Nichols <Sheila Pack Upchurch 9:53pm Dec 30, 2017 Chestnut Ridge Cousins Face book.>

Photographed on a Saturday evening 19 Dec 2017 in the presence of Bobby Prosser & Terry Tudor. The inscriptions were updated with exceptions found or known by C. Wayne Austin.
