At one time this graveyard was located on the farm of Samuel J. & Amelia Austell Crockett. The above were the sons and daughters of these progenitors. Samuel J. was the son of John & Mary Cowan Crockett who lived SE of here (Stephenson, now). The S.J. Crocketts' chose later to be buried in the Cumberland Presbyterian Churchyard Cemetery when family cemeteries began to fade in use.

I made no effort to study the earlier censuses of John Crockett b. 1780 father of Samuel J. Crockett. It becomes apparent to me from what I did that he was born in North Carolina (censuses)  and traveled thru Georgia where his two sons mentioned in the censuses as born in Georgia before coming on to Coffee County Tennessee (assuming Coffee Co was in existence then).

Visit this cemetery only with leather boots and stiff clothes to prevent briar scratches. Due to the briars I was unable to evaluate the evidence of unmarked graves.
