The nearby Howell village at one time was called Cane Creek. You will see that on the old census records.
Really had difficulty photographing this cemetery the
first time. It was
wet and a rain storm was brewing in the distance with an accompanying lightning
storm. Eventually the lens got wet leaving blurry spots on the photo worsening
the problem. Many of the photos came out dark and blurred. Digital cameras don't
like dark wet environments. Also the hurrying to beat the rain storm probably
caused some camera shake which caused most of the blurring. Oh well learn from
experience as I probably will not get a repeat experience there. Photographed
again on 25 Oct 2014 to eliminate blurred photos.
Photographed on a rainy morning of 21 Aug 2013. The inscriptions were updated with exceptions found or known by C. Wayne Austin. Photographed again on 25 Oct 2014 to eliminate blurred photos. This publication culminated from various sources. Listed on page 42-43 of the book Lincoln County County Cemeteries by Tim & Helen Marsh, abt 1978. Added here 18 Jan 2014. Most of the Sawyer & Other unmarked grave information came from the cemetery book Lincoln County Cems by the Tim & Helen Marsh, abt 1978. Photos numbered 2864-2944 were part of an effort to redo the photography on this cemetery.
