Funeral services for Mrs. Orbrie Phillips Jones, 66, wife of 
Hurtle G. Jones, were held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in Bennett-May Funeral 
Home, conducted by Bernard Burgess, Church of Christ minister. Burial took place 
in Cool Spring Cemetery. Mrs. Jones died unexpectedly of a heart attack 
Wednesday afternoon, June 29, at her home on the Minor Hill Road. Born October 
11, 1899, in Giles County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Henry 
Phillips and Ada Dotson Phillips. She was a member of Cool Spring Church of 
Christ. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jones is survived by one son, Hurtle G. 
Jones, Jr., Birmingham, Ala.; three daughters, Mrs. Morris Maultsby, Pulaski, 
Mrs. Bruce Matthews and Mrs. Dewese Whaley, both of Nashville; nine 
grandchildren; her step-mother, Mrs. Lena Nance Phillips; five brothers, Guy 
Phillips, Pulaski, Elmer Phillips, Nashville, Julius Phillips, Memphis, Joe 
Phillips, Lexington, Ky., and Harvey Phillips, Louisville, Ky.; and four 
sisters, Mrs. Vera Harwell, Pulaski, Mrs. Mildred Harbison, Nashville, and Mrs. 
Willie Mae White and Mrs. Etha Eastep, both of Athens, Ala.Bennett-May Funeral 
Home in charge of arrangements.
