The following was published in The Elk Valley Times newspaper in Fayetteville, Tennessee.

Ruby Jane Hopper, 70, of Dellrose, died Wednesday (Dec. 23, 2009) at the Donalson Care Center. She was a native of Lincoln County, the daughter of the late James Marion Francis and Katie Lou Brooks Mitchell. She retired from Amana Corp. and a member of the Wheelerton Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Hopper; three sisters, Leona Beddingfield, Mamie Sanderson and Martha Christine Rose; four brothers, James M. Mitchell, Jr., Otis B. Mitchell, Jack Mitchell and Roy Mitchell. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Phillips and husband, Richard, of Dellrose; two brothers, Joe Daniel Mitchell of Ardmore, Ala., and Jesse Mitchell of Hamptonville, N.C.; three grandchildren, Victoria Hopper, Brad Mitchell and Jesse Aron Phillips, all of Dellrose, and Richard Lee Phillips of Lewisburg; two great-grandsons, Triston and Cayden Mitchell of Dellrose. Funeral services were conducted on Monday in the chapel of the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Mitchell and Pastor Charles Mayo officiating. Burial followed in the Bee Springs Cemetery. Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
