* While I cannot disagree that Alex Austin (b. 1864) is a son of William E. Austin, AFAOA has William E.'s father as Reuben Austin b. 1770. I say his father is James b. 1772 whose remains lye within 20 feet of William E. & wife all at the same graveyard (Austin-Croney cemetery). It would be highly unusual to have an uncle & his wife and no parents of the subject in the same graveyard together. I call that conclusion "graveyard genealogy". Most times it is rather accurate. For more members of this extended family see Austin-Croney Cemetery & Elkton Cemetery According to AFAOA these Austins trace to Virginia's William Wilson Austin whereas I trace to William (b. 1699) & Ruth (Bryant) Austin of North Carolina.
