OPHELIA B. THOMAS
Ophelia B. Thomas, 82, died at 7:00 Saturday night, August 14, 1954, at home
of daughter, Mrs. W. C. Wilson, Birmingham, Al., following years of declining
health.
Funeral services held at 1:00 Monday afternoon in chapel of Bennett-May by Rev.
Ralph Bruce, pastor Bethesda Methodist Church. Burial in family cemetery,
Abernathy burying ground on Old Stage Road.
Daughter of late James Davis Brown and Adaline Abernathy Brown. She was born
Dec. 3, 1870 in Giles County. Member of Bethesda Methodist Church since
childhood. Husband Issac Bradford Thomas died Jan. 1, 1933.
Survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Henry K. Birdsong, Pulaski, Mrs. Wilson,
Birmingham, Al., Mrs. Lena Chambus, Benton, Ky.; one son Raymond Thomas, St.
Peterburg, Fl.; 17 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
Bennett-May in charge.
