GARRET (JAMES) CEMETERY, NEAR CULLEOKA, MAURY COUNTY TENNESSEE

M. J. Burns memorial.

BURNS, M. J., 1835. (only date inscribed at the top of the stone) Previous researchers have this date as 1885 fifty years later. While that is possible (given the faint inscription) this style stone was not generally used in the 1850s, but was used as a child's memorial in the 1820- 1830 era. See Shane Cemetery three miles to the southwest.
