Joe Waymon Andrews, 72, farmer and life-long resident of the Culleoka Community,
died Sunday, November 15, 2009 at his residence on Culleoka Highway.
Funeral services conducted at Oakes & Nichols with Corey Bell and Pastor Bob
Johnson officiating. Burial in Friendship Cemetery.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Joe Eros Andrews and Rubye
Madewell Andrews.
He was a 1955 graduate of Culleoka High School and served in the Tennessee
National Guard for 13 years. For 35 years, he drove a school bus for the Maury
County Board of Education.
Mr. Andrews was active in the affairs of the Culleoka Community all his life and
was a volunteer member of the Culleoka Fire Department. He served as a Trustee
of Friendship Cemetery for many years, maintaining the records and overseeing
the maintenance of the cemetery property. He was a life-long member of Central
Presbyterian Church, served as an Elder and as Sunday School Secretary for many
years.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Dugger Andrews; daughter,
Deborah K. Locke of Culleoka; son, Edward (Janet) Andrews of Culleoka;
grandchildren, Jennifer (Shawn) Girts of Lewisburg, Jessica Andrews, Steven
Andrews, and Julie Andrews, all of Culleoka; great-grandchildren, Ethan Spoon
and Austin Girts of Lewisburg.
Active pallbearers are Tim Dugger, Chris Dugger, Chris Tullis, Bradley
Richardson, David Hobby, Gary Hobby, Mark Hobby, and Donald Dugger.
Honorary pallbearers include Steven Andrews, Shawn Girts, Joe Cecil and Mildred
Crews, Mary Frances Martin, Billy Frank Jett, Bill Harris, Jimmy Williams, Joe
Kelley, Jimmy White, Nathan Davidson, Frank Alexander, Eddie Roberts, Burt
Madewell, Jimmy Thompson, Jackie Thompson, Bill Ambrose, Larry Fox, elders and
members of Central Presbyterian Church, members of the Culleoka Volunteer Fire
Department and employees of Maury County Bus Garage and fellow bus drivers.
