Mr. Herman E. Brown, 79, a resident of Duck River, died Monday, June 7, 2004 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville.

Funeral services for Mr. Brown were conducted Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rick Points officiating. Burial was in the Derryberry-Hardison Cemetery on Joe Brown Road, with military honors provided by the Tennessee State Guard. The family visited with friends Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born in Rayville, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Arthur and Nellie Robertson Brown and husband of Mary Ann Allen Brown. He was a retired truck driver and a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He served in both the Navy, aboard the USS Attu and the USS Talagi, and the Army. He was awarded the Victory Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon. He was of Church of Christ faith.

In addition to his wife, he was survived by a five sons, Ricky (Charlotte) Brown of Rayville, LA, William Edward �Billy� (Chau Seral) Brown of Mt. Pleasant and David Wayne Brown of Spring Hill, Kenny (Tracy) Brown of Columbia and Timmy Brown of TN; a brother, Charles Cecil Brown of Rayville, LA; a sister, Robbie Nell Brown of Rayville, LA; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Frederick Arthur Brown, his wife, Marjorie May Brown and a daughter, Tammy Brown.

Active pallbearers were Billy Kennedy, Carl Brooks, Mark Kerey, Leonard Romeo, Kevin Lance and John Baker. Honorary pallbearers were Terry Lendsey, Dr. Couch, Roy Cothran, Eddie Brown and Jr. Romeo.
