The further out upright stone is our subject. This cluster of six upright old
stones are three head stones and three footstones. The headstones can be
identified in the individual memorial photos and spotted here to separate them
out.
Inscription: "In memory of | THOMPSON D.
BUTLER | Born Dec 3rd 1818. | Cut off in the spring of | life which gave hope of
a useful and virtuous | manhood. he was suden | ly
summoned to a better | world, and died in
the | cheering hope of a blessed | immortality. | Oct 5th 1840 in the 22nd year
of his age

22 years.
"Cut off in the spring of life, which gave hope of a useful and virtuous
manhood. he was suden-ly summoned to a better world. and died in the cheering
love of a blessed immortality."
