Inscription reads: "H. G. Chaffin Born July 16, 1813 Died Dec 27 1899 Age 86 Yrs 5 Mo 11 Days. Mason.
Religious Inscription on the south side states: For we believe that Jesus died & rose again. Even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him. Sorrow not as those that have no hope".
