CECIL FAMILY CEMETERY, MT PLEASANT, MAURY COUNTY TENNESSEE

Samuel Cecil memorial. This stone is about 6 feet in length. We can see here why this type of stone rarely falls when set deeply into the ground. It was obviously uprooted probably by a large tree falling on it, a vandal digging it up, or maybe the stone fell into the caved in or vandalized grave and was extracted by someone.

CECIL, Samuel, 9 Jan 1784 - 30 Sep 1856. 72-08-21. "Born in Montgomery Co., Va.; married Sarah Brown on 21 Mar 1808." (Tall Tombstone, fallen.) The grave is a 2 feet sunken pit behind & to the east of this stone and the footstone is further east across that sunken pit. Needs fill dirt here along with resetting this stone.
