Hardin Mayberry
Born in Hickman County, TN. Son of Gabriel Mayberry of Virginia and Rosanna Hardin of South Carolina. He received a common school education and as a farmer owned a farm of 1,000+ acres. In 1847 he married 1st Wife Cornelia E. Galloway who bore him four children, Mary M., Harriet C. and two infants, deceased, and who died in 1856. He then married 2nd Wife Mrs. America P. Blair who bore him six children, (1) Lawreston H., (2) Emma P., (3) Lula L., (4) Harvey, (5) Cora, and (6) Gabriella.
A CSA defender of Fort Donelson, he was captured and imprisoned at Camp Chase for two months, then imprisoned five months at Johnson's Island. He was exchanged at Vicksburg. His failing health caused him to be released from service.
